June Release Dates

Pro The Leader and Dopestyle's Hip Hop album released June 15, 2010

It can be difficult to find out when an underground release is scheduled for. Tons of the rappers we love aren’t in the mainstream news and don’t have a strong internet presence so it can be challenging to decipher when an anticipated Hip Hop album is due for release, especially with all the changing dates and inconsistencies. It is not uncommon for albums to be pushed back weeks, and then months. This month here is a list of a few albums and their release dates that I have been looking forward to.

Pro The Leader (of American Poets 2099) & Dopestyle – “The Hip Hop Depression” (Release Date: 6/15/2010)

Today marks the day of Pro The Leader (of American Poets 2099) and emcee Dopestyle’s “The Hip Hop Depression” release. There is a ton of press and hype for the new album of these legendary Underground Hip Hop rappers. The album boasts many collaborations with various producers and famous rappers that you will definitely want to hear. Casual (of Hieroglyphics), Cappadonna (of Wu-Tang Clan) and Zion I are amongst these. Fans of American Poets 2099 will also be pleased to find many songs featuring band mates Holocaust and Nova-Kane, as well. The tracks on Hip Hop Depression are bordering on strikingly similar to past albums, even featuring the same hip hop and rap artists. It could have been nice to see some newer material, but when the group is already producing well-received bangers, why risk it and experiment with the unknown? Some of the verses we’ve already heard before, and it’s a little disappointing that the album isn’t entirely new. But Dopestyle does a superb job of bringing together the tracks with an effortless flow.

Crooked I – “Hood Star” (Release Date: 6/15/2010)

The Roots – “How I Got Over” (Release Date: 6/22/2010)

Madlib – “Brain Wreck Show” (Release Date: 6/22/2010)
