Vado: New York’s Breakthrough MC
Look out Drake: an up-and-coming MC vies for a spot as MTV’s “Hottest Breakthrough MCs of 2010.” Born and raised in Harlem, Teeyon “Vado” Winfree is blaring the East Coast airwaves under rapper New York rap legend Cam’ron’s tutelage as he comes out with his upcoming album Gunz ‘N Butta dropping August 31st.
Here’s a glimpse at Vado’s rise in popularity:
Early in 2009, Vado reached out to New York rap legend Cam’ron. A lasting friendship developed, as Cam’ron was in search for new artists for his new crew, “The U.N.” In August 2009, their work finally paid off as they co-released the hit mixtape “Boss of all Bosses,” alongside DJ Drama. The official video to his hit single “Speakin’ Tungs” from his upcoming album was released today, proving to make a splash on the national map. With captivating lyrics and attention-grabbing beats, Vado seems to make the case as one of the growing legends of hip-hop to come from the mean streets of Harlem—especially from the same neighborhood as Cam’ron. Will lightning strike twice for this breakthrough MC?
